— About us

We are here to strengthen Catholic marriages.

In our first year of marriage, Megan and I realized how few and poor most resources for Catholics are when it comes to marital intimacy. So, we decided to change that.

Our Story

Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord: Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church.

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it.

Ephesians 5:22-23a & 25
Everything about marriage has a learning curve. That curve can be smoothed out a bit with solid premarital preparation. Still, by premarital preparation, we mean more than just the formal classes (Pre-Cana, etc.), but everything one has done to prepare for their vocation.

In our case, James was a seminarian for ten years and was finishing up a master’s in dogmatic theology, and Megan was finishing her master’s in social work. So, we had almost twenty years of combined formal studies on theology, philosophy, ethics, family counseling, communication, etc. Plus, we had our life experience. James is the oldest of seven, worked in a school, and was a camp counselor. Megan worked as a family intervention specialist, foster care case worker, and a professional nanny.

However, all that training and experience didn't prepare us for one of the most important aspects of Catholic marriage: the marital act. Practical knowledge can only come through experience.

As we gained practical knowledge, we discovered that most available supplies and resources are a waste of money or support the culture of death. As Catholics, we not only want to buy good supplies, but we want to buy them from good vendors. We don’t want to be stuck buying semen-safe lube from a pharmacy that also sells contraceptives or buying lingerie from a boutique that also sells pornography.

Thus, we considered founding Catholic Intimacy to provide a safe space and resources for virtuous romance and love. We accomplish this with a growing list of articles and resources, plus links to nudity-free sites where you can purchase supplies for your marital romance.

As our work has grown, we have received and responded to many questions from our readers. So, to better support our readers, James started to formally offer online Catholic intimacy coaching to address the questions and concerns of both individuals and couples. Megan supports the work in the background, while also running her own private therapy practice, Screaming At Trees Counseling.

Testimonials

What our learners say

“We went from just coexisting to meeting each other again, and now we're living with a renewed sense of purpose. I used to see sex as an obligation that I had to fulfill, but now it's something that I look forward to and enjoy a lot - just like when we were newly married and without children lol.”
Whitney D.
“[Today’s session] was very informative about the human reproductive anatomy. Sometimes there are things that we think we know and recognize, but it is good to refresh and learn new discoveries on this topic. Especially on the erogenous zones in both genders and the sexual response cycle... definitely new information for me.”
